Congress has extended the ability for homeowners to deduct mortgage insurance thru 2013. With the passing of the American Tax Payer Relief Act of 2012, homes with private mortgage insurance, FHA mortgage insurance (monthly& upfront) as well as VA and USDA may deduct this interest as long as this is your primary residence or your second home. Investment properties are not eligible for this deduction.
