Record low interest rates may be here to stay

June 21st, 2012 4:34 PM by Michael and Jill Kohler

The 30 year fixed rate mortgage hits a new record low this week amid worsening economic indicators. The average interest rate this week is 3.66% according to a weekly survey of rates from Freddie Mac’s Primary Mortgage Market. This week last year, the average 30 year fixed mortgage rate was 4.50%. Low rates seem to be here to stay according to some analysts. With limited economic news this week, it seems that the low rates my stay in the historically low range for a while.
